After having used Suitcase and Fontexplorer X over the last 15-20 years, it is a great pleasure to now use such a light app like Fontbase that doesn't crash all the time. I’ve been using FontBase at work for years now. Long story short, my company used to have FontExplorer X Pro licenses, but I didn't really like it—it was pretty buggy with features like auto-activation. So I decided to pay for my own utility, FontBase. It's cheap, easy to set up, and effective. That’s pretty much it!

In my 35+ years as a graphic artist I have used a lot of font managers. They all sucked in a way. FontBase just works.
I've been using FontBase for about 4 years now. I've always been so annoyed with font apps, and this one is my favorite so far.
I do wish they would fix the "Recent" category though. That would be a good way to find fonts that you just added, but the current Recent a huge list of fonts from like a year ago, which makes it useless. Besides that FontBase is the best

I’ve used both Connect Fonts (formerly Suitcase) and Apple’s Font Book. Font Book has never worked well for me, while Connect Fonts is good – but far from perfect, and too expensive.
As a longtime Suitcase and Connect Fonts user, I’d say FontBase is at least as good, and possibly better. To get the most out of it, you need to keep your font files well organised, whether they’re stored locally or in the cloud. That takes a little effort upfront, but having that structure in place is a real benefit.
If you’re on the fence, I can confidently recommend FontBase. It’s an excellent choice.

I've been using FontBase for a few years now, and I love it; it's really user-friendly, does its job, and is compatible with all the design software I use. On top of being super affordable in a world where everything costs more and more, it's refreshing. Also, the one time I had a issue switching the email my account used, the team was reactive and helped me fix it quite fast.
First, the evident: one pay, no subscription, love that. The diferent ways to manage the font files are pure freedom.
But we never use the fontdiscover, and the supersearch depends a lot of the tags.
The search function is often counterintuitive because you can’t find out any more. Unfortunately, on a Mac, the programme quits rather than simply closing when you really just want to close the window.

I have used and use Fontbase even now because it offers me control and easy access to all my typefaces. It is much better than anything else to do the job of keeping track of my fonts that I have collected through the years, and it makes looking through them much less of a plight seeing that I can file them in a system that makes sense to me (and is in step with what I know about type).

The program makes it easy to activate and maintain fonts. If you have a project with temporary fonts you can easily activate and deactivate all nessessary fonts. It boots fast and remembers your last settings.

Overall, we are very happy with FontBase. The interface is very pleasant and well organized. It is easy to understand, and you can quickly find where everything is. The search, folder structure, and uploading of fonts all work very well and are easy to use. We especially like the option to add the number of available license seats. This helps us manage our fonts and licenses in a clear and organized way.
There are just a few things that could be improved. At the moment, the number of available licenses has to be entered separately for every single font style. For font families with many styles, this can be a little time-consuming, even though it is usually a one-time task. It would be helpful to have an option to set the number of licenses for several or all styles of a font family at once.
An expiration date also has to be entered for every font style. In general, this feature makes sense, but as a publishing company, we often buy font licenses that do not expire. It would therefore be helpful to have an option for licenses without an expiration date. Another option would be to set one expiration date for all styles of a font family at once.
At the moment, we also cannot see which user is currently using a license seat for a font. We work in a team of around ten people, and for many fonts we only have one to five licenses. Being able to see who is currently using a license would therefore be very useful. However, the automatic font deactivation settings may already help with this. We will start using FontBase more actively this month and see whether this becomes an issue in our daily work.
We have also noticed an issue with personal Collections when switching between User and Admin accounts. In our team, we do not have anyone who works only as an Admin. Instead, we selected two people from our department who are responsible for managing the fonts. These two people need Admin access, but at the same time they are also normal users who work with the fonts and create their own personal Collections.
When one of us creates personal Collections as a normal User and then logs in as an Admin to manage fonts, these personal Collections are still visible in the Admin account. It seems that they can then also become visible to other users. Even if another user deletes them, they appear again the next time FontBase is started. For our setup, it would therefore be very helpful to have a clearer separation between personal User Collections and Admin/shared Collections, especially when the same person needs to work both as a normal User and as an Admin.
Overall, we are very happy with FontBase. The clear and intuitive interface makes it very pleasant to use in our daily work. The most important features for us – uploading and organizing fonts, searching for fonts, and managing licenses – work very well. The points mentioned above are mainly small improvements that could make FontBase even more convenient for larger teams.
FontBase is a great font manager which allows users to place their fonts in FontBase, without taking up space on the computers. I like it.
I wrote you on 24th August, and never received an answer. I accidentally purchased the lifetime package and didn't wat this. i want my money back. I will get in touch with my bank. This is unacceptable.

Fontbase is simple, no nonsense font manager that executes this frustrating process simply and dynamically. Other font managers have forever frustrated me with confusing paywalls, absurd premiums and confusing UI. Fontbase simplifies an already heady world filled with distraction and leaves more focussed time for its ultimate purpose - creativity!
Fontbase really saved me. I was working on a project which used multiple styles from the same family, but Windows continued to replace the fonts with each other when I tried to install them all. Nothing worked.
And then I saw online to try using Fontbase, and Fontbase worked flawlessly. I’d never heard of a font loader before that. I’m generally a huge hater of subscription models, and I would really prefer to just pay once for access to an offline model that I own, but I think that 3 dollars a month is pretty affordable, even for myself as a student.
Using Fontbase for many many years and still loving it. I can organize and activate super easily any of my fonts. I love the extensive search function as well when I am in the exploratory phase of a project.

I’m a UI designer, and FontBase has been so helpful for managing project, especially when timeline is so tight. I usually do type testing with several combinations, and I look through them on FontBase. Mac’s native Font app is so slow to open it, and not very useful.
One tip I noticed using FontBase is you should keep opening the app (I usually hide it in the dock) while designing.

There is no real shppoing cart and checkout process - i accidentally bought lifetime pass which i was not to buy. Besides that, the huge price gabe vom monthly to yearly and than to lifetime, while not receiving a serial key or something like that, but always have to call home is annoying, since the software is occupying traffic.
I love the simplicity of the design. I have used a couple of font managers over the last decade or so and I have to say that FontBase is far more of an exceptional user experience than any font manager I've used. Thank you for FontBase and I hope you'll keep making it insanely great.

Ive been using FottBase for years to store and sort my fonts. It's very easy to use, and I love that I can see exactly what my text will look like in each font.
FontBase works for us because it manages the fonts we use for graphic design. After 36 years of using Suitcase and Connect, the software was managing us! We longed for a font management system that works with us, not against us. FontBase does the trick, managing the fonts, easily and dare I say intuitively.
Once installed, it is pretty much set and forget.

I absolutely love font base, because it's simple and no BS. it's extra nice that it syncs with Google drive folders so I can essentially have a persistent cloud font collection where ever I go.

When I first searched for a lightweight font manager suitable for freelancers, I didn’t want an oversized, expensive enterprise solution. I simply needed a clean, efficient way to manage my fonts without unnecessary clutter. FontBase matched that perfectly back then, and it still does today. A great tool with great value.
We use a vast number of fonts and recently switched from a competitor's product that was significantly more expensive. FontBase is much simpler, offers the same capabilities, and costs only a fraction of the price. We are more than happy.
ComoI really enjoy using FontBase—it has become an essential part of my workflow. The automatic font activation plugins are especially useful and save me a lot of time.
As a suggestion, I would love to see more advanced filters added to SuperSearch, such as filtering fonts by classification (serif, sans serif, display, handwritten, etc.) and by the number of styles available in each font family. This would make browsing and finding the right typeface even faster and more efficient.

It's been my main font manager for probably over four years. I don't know what I would do without it.
It has some bugs here and there in QOL features, but it gets the job bode wonderfully. Makes a lot of things easier, and the pricing is just right for me being in a third world economy.
Works well, I wish there we more options, like a history of activation/deactivation and wish it had some additional smarts like find similar font. It does work well and has just enough features to make it effective. I have like 30,000 fonts in my database, fontbase handles them like a champ.

I've used different professional fonts management systems over the years in book publishing/graphics design work. Discovered FontBase and decided to give it a try. It's been a good experience, consistent, reliable, and easily works as I need it to do.
I moved away from a similar tool because it kept deleting my fonts. Fontbase keeps everything where I put it, whether that be in a Collection or my Favorites. The interface is really easy to use, too!

Font base is a great font manager for Mac.
My old Suitcase finally bit the dust and the move to FontBase was easy as I had exported the Suitcase Font Vault to be able to move the font folders into FontBase. The program is easy to use and instantly makes the fonts available when switched on. Plus the "watched folders" are a time saver in getting started each day. At first I missed being able to manage my Adobe fonts within FontBase like Suitcase, but I just now leave the Adobe Font website page on when I close the Chrome browser and on the next day's Chrome start-up it acts like the watched folders as the fonts are auto loaded immediately.
I used to rely on font managers like Suitcase and FontExplorer, but this great little tool does everything I need. I’m very happy with it, and the price is great too.
Great font program! Love how it can auto-activate fonts on Indesign and friends. Since we switched to Fontbase, our designers have had many fewer font issues than before with FontExpert.

It's fast and easy to use. It does the same job as font managers that cost five times more. The paid plan is worth it just for one feature: when you open a file in Photoshop or Illustrator, FontBase turns on the fonts you need automatically. No more hunting for missing fonts. An excellent cost effective way of managing your fonts - rather than dumping everything in your Windows fonts folder! Had it for years and use it daily.
While it looks better than some, there are lots of fonts it can't display at all and after 3 years of paying for the "pro" version I've lost faith that the various problems are ever going to be fixed. The most recent payment is the last I'll give when there are others I could own outright for much less.
Best font manager out there. Found it after giving up on Suitcase (remember?). Free version is fine, but Pro is a bargain and well-worth it. Totally support it and you should, too!

For a long time, I've been looking for a font platform that's simple, effective, and affordable. I've NEVER found anything truly worthwhile, but one day I found the Fontbase website.
The first thing I noticed was that it was very intuitive, making it easy to use. At the same time, it allows you to organize your fonts in different ways, leaving room for many font categorization options while keeping everything organized and functional.

FontBase helped me sort out thousands of my fonts. In conjunction with Synology Drive it allows me to keep a shared and synced Fonts folder across all my work machines and keep them tidy and up-to-date.
FontBase makes it possible for me to quickly see a large range of fonts, while not slowing my system down by having everything installed at once.
Its simple and inexpensive. What I found with big font manager programmes is that it made indesign laggy. Not so with fontbase, slick and easy to use.
To be honest I forget it is there, it just gets on with it.

The free version is very good, but it's worth paying for automatic font activation and to support the developer. They respond very quickly to emails with any questions.

Such a simple piece of software that just works, no issues setting it up or using it on a daily basis. Support has been amazing too!
This is incredibly great value for money. There might be other Font Managers out there with slightly more fancy features - but for this price? No. I used Extensis which became Monotype for over a decade and it became more difficult to use, more clunky and then cost me over $1000 per year. FontBase does all the things you need it to do - has regular updates - and costs less than a meal out PER YEAR. You then, for the cost of a meal at Macca's per month - can get access to thousands more fonts. It is insane how good it is for the price.
Simply the best font managment tool on the market and by simple I'm implying it is a simple, easy-to-use, yet powerful application for any level of user. Beginners can easily manage their typefaces while power users will find it to be an elegant and stress free experience.
I've Used it for years, and I won't use anything else on the 30+ Macs/users I manage.
I really like FontBase because it is more stable than other font managers. It is very easy to manage fonts, and the simple interface is wonderful for my daily work.
I also appreciate that I can use it on any OS without any issues. The auto-activation feature is great, and I hope this auto-activation will be supported in more software in the future.
